As a Government registered Association the WGAA needs to comply with certain legalities, administratively as well as financially, in order to remain a registered, recognised organisation.
Trademarks / Patents
The WGAA legally took up the matter of use and misuse of the sale and or distribution of items with the Welham name for any kind of memorabilia or other goods. This has been officially recognised under the Govt of India Trademark and Patent laws for use only by Welham Boys and Welham Girls schools.
Welham Girls School officially authorised the WGAA to use and give franchise for use of the name Welham, Welhamite, Welham Girl to suitable vendors. Anyone found using the name for sale of any kind of items without official WGAA authorization is legally liable and suitable action will be taken.
As a registered association the Welham Girls Alumni Association (WGAA), has to comply with the objectives, rules and regulations laid down under our Memorandum of Association with its Rules and Regulations (MOA)
This means the elected Committee must hold a minimum of 4 meetings a year plus the Annual General Meeting, (AGM). Elections for office bearers must be held according to the MOA with the stipulated quorum and minutes of all these meetings kept on record.
FCRA COMPLIANCES In addition the WGAA needs to ensure compliance of income tax and FCRA regulations involving correct banking procedures with annual balance sheets and filing returns as required.
